A local make up artist and stylist recommended this book... (thanks Cands)
Bourne bought it for me and I haven't been able to loosen my grip on it since! It is a great point of reference and I have had to hold myself back from writing my own notes in the corners (Bourne does not allow dog ear-ing and writing in books).
Rae not only tells you how she does make up, she also explains why...I have an inquisitive mind and I need to know why or how things work. I don't respond well to "because I said so".
The book includes a breakdown of kit must-haves as well as additional tips and tricks. Another great idea is that all the step-by-step images are untouched. This is fantastic because it is a little disheartening to try replicate a look from a magazine and it never seems the same...thanks to photoshop.
So this little feature of the book helps you understand what the make up can and will look like after the photographer is done with it. I think it gives a little insight into the entire process of the images' creation...
Most of the looks can be used for everyday wear, but the real value comes in with her explanation and technique.
If you're even semi-serious about make up...get this book!
