Final makeup look from 031 Collection campaign shoot
You may have noticed a huge trend toward red eye shadow and liner. Not an easy look to pull off if you're walking on anything other than a runway.
A lot of references I found of this look were either smudged/blended out or muted. So I threw caution to the wind and made it bigger and bolder - our model, Shannon, could pull anything off!
I added the black liner to create an "end" to the red because I didn't want it to look like a red smokey eye - anyone can do that! I wanted to create a shape for the eye and definition.
Here's the final image - Love it!
It's not a ready to wear look, but it works wonder in front of the camera and on the ramp!

Makeup look 2 from 031 campaign shoot...Frosted eye
I'm super excited to show you this look from the 031 Collection campaign shoot. The same-old smokey eye is getting tired and the rounded out shape is pretty but not bold enough, so I decided to give it a new lease on life and take a page from Chanel's book.
It's not the easiest eye to do as it's tough to get the shape just right, but I've done it a couple times and I like how it can work on all eye shapes (once you adjust it to each person). I also enjoy working with pigments but it takes some expertise to stop them from dropping and making a mess on the rest of the face.
The idea is to work with grey as your darkest colour and use highlights and pigments for the frosted look.
Hope you like. I do.

Makeup look 1 for 031 Collection campign shoot
I worked on the 031 Collection campaign shoot and we created these fun (albeit silent) time-lapse videos of each makeup look I created for the shoot.
The first look was a berry lip and lined eye.
I also very quickly created this face chart for the look.
And here is the finished image:

Makeup artist: Candice Mac Nicol
Hair stylist: Claire Swart
Stylist: Candice Drury
Photographers' assistant: Kevin Sawyer
Model: Shannon from Ice Models
The idea was to move the red lip along and make it something fresh but relevant for winter. This berry lip has been seen on ramps throughout international fashion weeks, in both matte and gloss.
Bold lips are not the easiest to apply and darker colours can make lips look thinner, so it's imperative the get the shape and colour just right.
I think Shannon rocks it!

031 Collection
You might have noticed some street posters and Mr Price window banners announcing the 031 Collection with a guest appearance by none other than British supermodel, Agyness Deyn.
I've had the pleasure of working with the team on this event and I was part of the crew who shot the campaign images for the 031 Collection. It's been such fun and a wonderful opportunity. The event producers and the rest of the team are working tirelessly to bring Durban the hottest and most spectacular fashion event in ages....and they're going to deliver, believe me!
You can see all the behind the scenes action at the blog and facebook or get all the official news at the website.
Here are some of the final images from the campaign shoot:
Some fun behind the scenes pics from the shoot (all images sourced from 031 Collection):
It was such a fun shoot with an amazing team and I can't wait to show you the INCREDIBLE editorial of this campaign Vaughan is putting together - Watch this space kids!

There's a bit more to my involvement in the event (which is why I unfortunately won't be doing makeup backstage at the actual shows) but I have some other goodies to share with you, so you'll have to wait a little longer ;)
See you at the 031 Collection next week!
