MY WORK ~ BLACK HAWK SUMMER 11

I had the pleasure of working with the gents from The Black Hawk. Seriously guys, watch this brand...this team of designers are going to change the game. David and Simon are serious about their craft and I don't use that term lightly...they literally "craft" the garments...every stitch is thought out, fabrics are scrutinised and quality is never negotiable.

It's a rare thing of beauty when you work with a team and everything clicks. Each time we met to discuss the shoot and props and accessories, I got more and more ampt.

Our model was the ever energetic Ruan from Ice Models. This dude can turn it on in front of the camera and he's the nicest, kindest model I've met. If you're looking for a male model, book this guy!

I got to work with Tyrone Bradley again. Watch out for him too. Big things.

They also brought in Jimmy to do a behind the scenes video of the shoot. He's talented. And funny.

All in all, it was an epic day and it restored my faith in a sometimes vapid and fickle industry. These guys are legit. This is the reason I love my job.

MY AFTERNOON WITH HER SERENE HIGHNESS

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with the princess of Monaco, Charlene, this year. She is an incredible person with a wicked sense of humour, and she is an elegant and inspiring ambassador for South Africa and Monaco.

GET IN MY KIT! 2.0

Very excited about these new additions to my makeup kit. Very excited indeed.

Japonesque Professional palettes

Used for lipsticks (as seen above) and foundations/concealers (as per last image), these palettes are revered and used by professional MUA's the world round. They are notoriously pricey but are just as famous for their functionality and space-saving attributes.
I ordered mine from www.Alconeco.com and they arrived in about 2 weeks. The foundation palette was damaged so I sent an email with pics and they've sent me a new one, chop chop. Very happy with the service.
Needless to say, I am smitten.

Inglot 42-piece synthetic makeup brush roll

Inglot is the business. I've been waiting for my MAC Pro card for almost 2 years. I got my Inglot card in one week. They offer a discount to professional MUA's and will even ship product to you if you don't have a store near you.
I dealt with Lana at the Canal Walk store and she was phenomenal! I've never received such impeccable service from a cosmetics brand....ever!

As for the actual brushes, I really dig them. They're soft and there's a massive selection of them in this roll - I've actually kept some aside for future use! I prefer synthetic brushes for moral reasons as well as practical reasons...they are better to use with creams as they don't absorb as much of the product into the bristles, therefore less wastage.
I can't wait for an Inglot store to open in Durban. I could use a little more colour and smiles in my makeup world!

LINK LOVE ~ ELIE SAAB

Any self-respecting female knows Elie Saab. If you don't, please leave my blog immediately....just kidding. Not really.

How incredible are these Elie Saab Fall 2011 campaign images?

Found here. Sigh.

LINK LOVE ~ STYLE SCMP

Love this shoot. Very left of center and completely no story-line, but sometimes that is all fashion needs to be....there's a wonderful kind of artistic license to the fashion world!

GET IN MY KIT!

I'm back from an incredible holiday in Kuala Lumpur and Vietnam (actually an island off Vietnam, Phu Quoc)!

Although I was away for only a week, it feels like months! I even have a tan :)

Needless to say, I did some shopping....I was a little disappointed in KL's make up supply and I didn't find everything I needed but I am still happy with what I did get....and at a much cheaper cost!

Make up For ever Eye Seal
Estee Lauder Long wear cream eyeshadows (in those colours)
Sephora & Shu Uemura brushes (I've been looking for this type of brush for ages, so I bought a couple)
Shu Uemura & Make up For ever lashes
Chanel translucent powder
Chanel foundations
Bobbi Brown foundation sticks (they didn't have the darker tones there, so I will have to stock up on them here)
YSL Touche Eclat (I bought a few but they didn't have all colours, so I've bought a range which I can mix)

I was hoping to find Japonesque Pro palettes and options for Airbrush foundations, but it seemed that KL only had the more commercial make up available and not many, if any, professional products.  So I've gone ahead and ordered the palettes online. I can't wait for them to arrive!

*PS*

I forgot about these little beauties too! Sephora Cream lip stains in Red and Fuchsia. You haven't seen colour and staying power like this. Believe that!

BEHIND THE SCENES - ELLEN & AILEEN

Vaughan and I had the pleasure of working with Ellen (Ice Models) and Aileen (Boss Models) this week. Although very different shoots, both models are incredible to work with and I can't wait to show you the final images.

It's always good to do "personal" shoots like this; it gives me the opportunity to try new techniques and test new products. It's also a break from the usual natural makeup and gives me a great outlet for creativity. I takes these shoots as a chance to inspire and challenge myself.

By the way, I still can't believe I did Aileens' hair like that!
