IN MY BAG ~ LIPSTICK PALETTES

De"potting" lipsticks is a messy job and there are many ways to do it or store them. I use the lovely Japonesque 35-well pro lipstick palettes. I purchased another 2 palettes on my recent USA trip and have moved all my lipsticks into colour coordinated palettes (instead of just the one palette)....and let me tell you, it was a messy job!

I found a video online which showed melting the lipstick on a spoon and then pouring it into a well...great thought process because it looks neat and smooth in the palette. In reality though, the heat of the liquid lipstick melts the plastic of the wells. Not so cool.

So I used my tried and tested method of smooshing the lipstick into each well using my fingers (cleaned & sterilized with cosmetic alcohol, of course!). It's not as neat but it works just fine.

I must admit it seems a little sad breaking the lipstick out of it's lovely packaging (hello Dior!) but there is no way I can carry about 50+ individual lipsticks in my kit, not to mention how inefficient it would be.

So here's a list of my current lipstick collection (obvs I just assume you're all dying to know!):

So there you have it! Let me know you favourite colours or recommendations for my kit :)

IN MY BAG ~ ZUCA BAG

So....look what I did.

I'll be writing posts on all the new products that fill this beauty, so keep a look out!

As for the Zuca, it's sturdy and can hold a fair amount. No matter what bag I use, I've gotten to the point where I need to repack my bag for each individual job according to what I require for that particular shoot.

I really like the flat pouches as they are more palette-friendly and can hold a lot too. Now all I need are more resilient versions of the zip-lock bags I am using for pencils.

What do you think? Any particular bag that works for you?

Love everything about this shoot, especially the reflector the models are standing on. Very cool all round.

LINK LOVE ~ PRETTY ABERCROMBIE BOYS

Pretty boys, they can't dance but who said anything about dancing, right? Love that the fashion industry has moments where it doesn't take itself too seriously and how it's integrating into pop culture (as it always has).

And they're pretty.

COLOUR INSPIRATION

I'm trying to get inspiration from things other than reference images....nature, colour combinations, popular trends etc etc.

Recently I've been pulled towards these beautiful colour combinations and the various possibilities in which to create them.

I like how it can be a soft feminine look or you can make it a little stronger and edgier. I also like the touches of metallic and shine.

What colour combinations do you like?
